A little clarity

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between “tea” and a “herbal infusion”?

True tea — black, green, white, oolong — all comes from one plant, Camellia sinensis. Anything made from other botanicals (flowers, roots, herbs, fruit) is technically a herbal infusion, sometimes called a tisane. Most of our blends are herbal infusions, built from things like rooibos, chamomile, hibiscus, and rose. A few — like Cup of Bloom and Golden Whisper — are made with real tea leaf. We use “tea” throughout the site as the familiar, everyday word for both, but the distinction matters if you’re caffeine-sensitive (see below).

Do your blends contain caffeine?

Most of our range is naturally caffeine-free — built from herbs, flowers, and rooibos rather than true tea leaf. Two exceptions: Cup of Bloom and Golden Whisper are made with real tea leaf and contain a moderate amount of caffeine. We note this clearly on both product pages and on any gift set that includes them, so there are no surprises in an evening cup.

What is “The Inner Bloom Pause” — is it different from just making tea?

The Brewing Guide tells you how to prepare the tea — quantity, water temperature and steep time. The Inner Bloom Pause is the experience around the cup: a few intentional minutes to slow down, sip, reflect and rest. It is an invitation, not a rule, and you can make the pause your own.

Loose-leaf or teabags — is one better than the other?

Not better, just different. Both formats contain exactly the same 40g of the same blend — loose-leaf gives a little more room for the botanicals to unfurl, which some people feel makes for a fuller cup, while our teabags are simply easier to carry with you or brew on the go. Choose whichever fits how you’ll actually drink it.

How should I store my tea to keep it fresh?

Keep it somewhere cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight — a cupboard rather than a windowsill. Reseal the pouch or box tightly after each use. Stored well, most herbal blends stay good for 12–18 months, though the aroma is always at its best in the first few months.

Is it safe to drink your blends while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Some herbs commonly used in botanical blends aren’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so we’d always rather be cautious than casual here: please check with your midwife, doctor, or pharmacist before drinking any of our blends if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, or on any regular medication. We’re happy to share full ingredient lists to make that conversation easier — they’re already listed on each product page.
